Here comes the 16th edition of the Veleziana, which will be held on October 15. The only sailing event in the world that allows racers to arrive with full sails in St. Mark's Basin.
The Veleziana, a classic regatta organized by the Compagnia della Vela, runs on a course that starts from the sea in front of the Venice Lido and ends in the lagoon in front of St. Mark's Square. Not just a kermesse, but a regatta that requires special tactics precisely because it takes place in very different environments and conditions: passage from the sea to the lagoon, with its currents, straits and wind shifts.
The spectacular aspect is inevitable, amplifying the strong link between the sport of sailing and Venice and its centrality in the Adriatic's nautical scene.
