Around Fish Farms

The fish farms are separated from the lagoon by a complex and intricate system of embankments was created specifically by fishermen to avoid the ebbs and flows of the tides. Are then formed by shallow water and brackish sauces, obtained using a clever and ingenious in natural and artificial channels for the mixing of freshwater with seawater.

The creation of these particular areas of the lagoon goes back to ancient times. Their function is to raise certain types of mussels and fish in them, help the livelihood of families and the city's economy, but also for hunting birds.

the valleys, in fact, being rich in fish were an attractive source of food for birds descending to fish were easy prey for hunters.

Today fishing in the valley has sharply reduced due to competition from foreign products that have a cost to the consumer very little competitive, so they are dying because they are more affordable and with their disappearance will fail even those techniques and traditions of Veneto and Venetian culture that have characterized this area for hundreds of years.

Our aim is to make sure that our guests through guided tours of the fish farms are able to maintain our interest for this type of activity and at the same time bring with them the memory of places that are difficult to access a normal tourist.
