The Vogalonga 27.05.2012

The 2010 Vogalonga will take place on 27 May.

As always, hundreds of rowing boats will throng the Venice canals, marking the day 37 years ago when lovers of the standing-up Venetian rowing style came up with the idea for this event to revive the tradition of rowing in the city and encourage it amongst the inhabitants.

This non-competitive race goes through the most beautiful and famous corners of Venice, from Saint Mark’s along the Grand Canal to the islands of Burano and Murano, before returning through Cannaregio to the Grand Canal and finishing at the Punta della Dogana.

This is an occasion for a day of celebration, in particular for boat-lovers who will see all kinds of boats, but only those with oars.

For those wishing to take part in the event, the Hotel Rigel staff will be able to help.
